Easy for them to say! When you have it drilled into your head from early childhood that you aren't good enough, or that you need to be more like so-and-so you can't help feeling anxious in social situations. That's not something that's easy to overcome.

I feel the same way Jacki. My dad always said I'd never amount to anything. It's hard to overcome.

I' sorry Mike, my father said he was ashamed of me and wished I was dead...I know just how you feel, it is so hard to build yourself up from that....but I for you think you are one hell of a man

Growing up with a mother like that has made me so careful of what I say to the kids and how I say it. I don't want them to ever feel that they aren't good enough. I tell them all the time how proud of them I am and how special they are.
