Awful burning pain on lower back

My pain is getting worse. It started with severe muscle spasms every time I got up from laying down. My back would lock up, I'd be hunched over in pain unable to move or stand straight. After 1-2minutes of slowly stretching upright & holding the bed, I was finally able to stand straight.

Once I started moving the pain disappeared. Once I lay down again and got up this cycle would repeat itself. Now when I lay down I get an awful burning pain on my lower back. I awaken every night around 2-3am because the pain is so bad. It feels like there's a heavy weight and my lower back is on fire. My pain seems to be getting worse as the night continues.

Once I get out of bed after about 5-10 minutes and move around the pain disappears. I still feel a dull ache of normal back pain through the day but it's bearable. The real pain comes only when I lay down or get up from laying down.

And that Mike is why I'm only sleeping 2-3 hours a night

Sounds like neuropathy Brianna. I take neurontin at night or else I couldn't sleep. I think you should take some time off and make an appointment with your doctor

wen my back gets bad it gets something like that, the doc wants me to take more muscle relaxers, im do for a shot in a month as well

not bad, i have ups and downs, the doc wants to give me aniother shot, she wanted to the other day, i shoukda let her, she was worried cause i had a probelem with my back a few weeks ago, stupid ice and cold in winter, wells ateleast my doc is a hottie!!!!! so i dont mind wen she pokes me with things in my lower spine hahahhaah

Ooh...might be worth getting a shot for! Next time you see her take her in some and smile real nice May I ask, if you don't mind...what the prob is with your back? I just had my L4 disc removed in August after years of suffering and many shots.

i herniated a disc, lowest one on my spine, back troubles run in the family, and my doc is married, she is still cute though hahahah, i got 2 shots last summer, they fixed me up big time, but from cold, and my own stress i screw my back up sometimes, i cant complain though, most people here have it much worse, like poor brianna, wow worst my back gets i just up the muslce relaxers and stretch alot, since they gave me my shots n way

I had herniated L4 and L5...with stenosis going all the way down passed my tailbone. They kept saying I wasn't a candidate for surgery..but the injections after the first 2 didn't work. Finally, the degeneration in the spine had caused spurs, and L4 and 5 were rubbing together so bad, they caused a huge cyst to grow into the spinal canal. Last April, the doc removed it with a very non-invasive surgery, and also cleaned out the bone spurs. I asked at that time why he didn't take care of the discs since they were the problem, but he was sure this surgery would fix the problem. In July...the pain got excruciating after I sneezed, and within a couple of days, I could hardly breathe. The doc sent me for an MRI, then called me after he read it and had me meet him in his office the next day, ready to be admitted for emergency surgery to remove the L4 because and even larger cyst had developed and was completely blocking my spinal nerve. The surgery, tho painful the first couple of days, was really nothing and I recovered pretty quickly, but I do have permanent nerve damage to the spinal nerve now because that cyst was evidently sitting there undetected for a bit. I'm still soooo much better. I can sleep on my side and stomach now...walk much better...and even sit in my chair without suffering. I wish it had been done years ago. My legs fall asleep if I stand too long, and at night when I go to bed, I have knives in my right foot for about 15 minutes...but it doesn't last. I hope you can find a doc who will give you the answers you need. Don't give up...keep insisting that there's got to be an answer. That's what I had to do. Good luck!

oh mine aint that bad, it got very bad last summer cause i let it for for a few months before i took care of it, it gets treaked now and again is all, and it runs in the family, but nothing that bad, just anoying aND PAINFULL heheheh

Pain or no pain I'm walking in New Hope today. It's my only day off for the next two weeks

Brianna, when my back does that I try elevating the top of the mattress (not the whole bed, just the mattress), sleeping on a wedge or just sleepin in the recliner for a few nights. It seems to relieve what ever it is that has my back screaming.
