| Researchers studying the brains of people suffering from chronic pain have found that an area of their cortex is permanently active when it should sometimes deactivate, Reuters reports. That part of the brain, usually associated with emotion, stays on "full throttle" at all times. Researchers say this could explain why people who endure chronic pain are also more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and shortened attention spans.

| This explains so much... All joking aside...c'mon..I can do this...Since I've been in chronic pain for so long..it's completely changed my personality. I used to be outgoing...literally...wanting to go places all of the time and be with people. Now, the thought of leaving my house makes me shudder. Just to get ready to go somewhere tires me out and I want to go to bed for awhile, but I have to go out. Then..the prospects of dealing with people who have no earthly idea of what it's like to be in chronic pain, short of breath all of the time (so many feel I can just make a decision to push through it..if only...) it's just too much. I prefer to stay home. I miss going to church so much, but most of the people there, thinking they're helping me, tend to keep telling me I need to have faith. Well, excuse me...who do they think they are assuming that I don't? I have such a HUGE amount of faith...and I find it SO insulting when I'm told over and over again that I "just need to have faith, Sister". AARRGGHH!! I love church...it's the people I can't deal with... So, I find it's easier to stay at home and be in less pain, and to not go through the mental anguish and upset. I figure that, if they don't get it, it's their issue and not mine. I know God understands because He made me. Thanks so much for this, Heather.... | |

| Michelle I tell these ladies at Hugz all the time to listen to their bodies. Your body will tell you when and if you're ready to venture out again. Hang in there kiddo | |
