| Hong Kong, June 10 (DPA) If you woke up this morning feeling down in the dumps, you're most probably not alone. It could be you're experiencing something even the experts have struggled to fathom - the summertime blues.

| I grew in Phoenix, summer temps are always horrible, and for years I didn't have A/C in my car and only a Swamp cooler in the house! And it never bothered me, until I got older and got A/C! But the humidity in AZ has risen by 40 percent or more since I was a kid, so from the middle of June thru the middle of Sept. you have humidity at 65-85% with temps of a low 102 to a high of 118! Do you know how much it sucks to have to go out at 5 in the morning when it is suppose to be "cool" and it is stll 103 degrees with 65% humidity? Even having a pool is a waste! That is why so many say that "Zonies have fried brains" and that is also why we spend so much time at the lakes, river, or San Diego, Rocky Point, etc. doing this: Now I live up by Prescott and if it gets over 100, I am dying I don't pay for my utilities so my apartment is COLD, DARK, A CAVE, Ed you would love it! It would only be the ride from the Phx airport to the apt. that would kill you! | |

| It might be the same thing as a water cooler and I have been in houses that had them and they are big and have water in the bottom of them and a giant fan that blows and it's real loud. | |

| This is what they say about swamp coolers........... - Quote :
- Folks differ on why it's called a swamp cooler. Some say because it makes the house feel like a muggy swamp-but that's only when the late summer rains come and the cooler is less efficient. On dry days-which is almost every day in a desert-a swamp cooler works fine. In high humidity areas, like Washington D.C., they don't work at all because the water does not evaporate appreciably and thus the air is not cooled.
