My 15 y/o daughter wrote this. She has been called as a missionary since kindergarten and she went with the Continental singers on a mission trip through the southwest. I'm kinda proud of her (maybe juuuussst a bit
).

I was singing one of my favorite songs "Small Enough" the other day, I don't know how many of you have heard the song but it is someone begging our Great God to be small enough to be able to hear us. This got me to thinking, isn't it amazing that our Great God is great enough to create everything and yet small enough to care about each and every one of us?
Have you ever wondered if God had heard you or not? Most likely you have, I don't really think that it is possible to be human and not have doubts. Of course we all know for a fact that God has heard us, we just weren't listening for the response; and no, I do not mean like an audible voice although he may choose to speak to you that way, and I also don't mean an immediate response either. God is outside of time, he is not bound by time, we are bound by time, because of this difference between God and us we might see his response as late, but God has perfect timing with everything.
In the song "Small Enough" the singer asks God "Are you there?" we often find ourselves asking God that same question, I understand that everyone doubts but God tells us over and over in his word that he will never leave us nor forsake us, and that he is always there; we have no real reason to doubt this except that we are many times blind to what God is doing in us and for us. We, as humans, cannot understand God, he tells us this in Isaiah "My thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways for my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts," we cannot understand God, we cannot always see him in our lives' this is where faith comes in, we are told to walk by faith and not by sight, I take this to mean that we are not going to see how God is using us or how God is working in us, but we are to trust him. We won't ever completely understand God, that is impossible, but we certainly can have faith that he is going to carry us through this, whatever it is, it is for our good or for someone Else's good. I don't know what you may be going through but I know that God is in control of whatever it is, we never really need to ask the question "Are you there?" like the author of the song, but we will need to fully trust in God for everything. Trusting in God WILL help you in whatever you are going through, God is always in control. And isn't it better to be on the side of whoever in charge rather than trying to go against the one who has already won?
I cannot guaranty you that you won't have any problems if you trust in God, on the contrary, you will most likely have more troubles for trusting in God because the devil won't want you to be relying on God, but if you are trusting in God you will have "A constant help in time of trouble."
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want, He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the still waters. He restores me soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for though art with me, they rod and they staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Here is the song that all of this was based off of:
Oh Great God, be small enough to hear me now
there were times when I was crying
from the dark of Daniels den
and I have asked you once or twice if
you would part the sea again
but tonight I do not need a fiery pillar in the sky
just wanna know your gonna hold me
if I start to cry
Oh Great God be small enough to hear me now
Oh Great God, be close enough to feel you now
Oh Great God! Be close to me!
There have been moments
when I could not face
Goliath on my own
and how could I forget
we've walked around our
share of Jericho's
but I will not be setting out a
fleece for you tonight
just wanna know that everything will be alright
Oh Great God be close enough to feel you now
All the praise and all the honor be
to the God of ancient mysteries
who's every sign and wonder
turn the pages of our history
but tonight my heart is weary
and I cannot help but whispering this prayer
are you there?
are you there?
And I know you could be writing
on a wall that's just for me
or send wisdom while I'm sleeping
like in Solomons sweet dreams
but I don't need the strength of Samson
or a chariot in the air
just wanna know that you still know
how many hairs are on my head
Oh Great God, are you small enough
be small enough to hear
me now!
