Hey John..LOVE the pic! I've never been considered "normal" by anyone's standard. I suffered so much especially through junior high and early high school. Years later my Mom and I were talking and I found out she had gong through the exact things I had...same feelings, emotions, etc. and then my Dad and I talked and he had also. Unfortunately, they were not emotionally available for me..nobody was, so I went through it alone, thinking I was the strangest person on earth, with the greatest encouragement in that thinking process from my very cruel older sister. When I was 12, my Mom threatened me with a butcher knife and told me I was driving her crazy. She then told my older sister she was considering sending me to a pdoc..which, of course my sister immediately told me and every one of her friends. That didn't help my self perception at all. We discovered later that my Mom's thyroid level was basically non existent which explained her lunacy at the time, however we still haven't figured out my sister's...LOL. At any rate...I'm different...I know it..but I'm GLAD I'm different. It's made me more sensitive to people and their emotions. It's made me a more caring person because I know what I've suffered for being different. I'm inappropriate at times cuz I'm silly and get carried away. I'm hyper sensitive and get my feelings hurt very easily. I care too much and carry the world on my shoulders and feel very guilty if I have to do the right thing and take care of myself first. BUT...I like ME. I wouldn't change me for the world. I accept ALL of my quirks and foibles cuz that's what makes me who I am and special. I can look in the mirror and say, "I like you" because I do. That was a hard process, and I took a long time doing it. I had to start with the small things cuz I used to look in the mirror with hatred and disgust. At first, I thought it was the physical image I was disgusted at, but then I realized it was the inner image I was having issues liking and loving. I realized when I was loathing...I was looking into my own eyes. I started out by recognizing the good points about myself. I'm funny. In fact...I'm very funny. That was a start. I can make people laugh. Once I had a starting point...I went on from there.
I have no idea what drove me to put this down...but something did so I hope it helps somebody.

I'm glad you're different too Michelle. I'm overwhelmed by your post and that doesn't happen too often. You can make people laugh, you're kind and caring. Don't ever look in that mirror and hate yourself again. here 4U
