What has happen to us

I know I haven't been here much but we've been going through alot with our son. He got laid off back in the summer and it knocked his legs out from under him. he had never been with out a job since he was 16 and now he's 39. He was living at a place we had on the lake. We were never able to get in touch with him so we went up there and found out he had been drinking himself to death. His BP was sky high . We did the only thing we could we brought him back home. He was still going up there and drinking. We knew we had to get to the bottom of all this so we took him the DR. and tried to get him in sometype of treament center. The place we found he had to be there for 3 days. That is how long it takes to getall that mess out of you. He said he could do it at home instead. He did. he had put in for a job somewhere he really liked and last week he found out he got it. He starts Dec.1st. He is now going to AA. He has a friend that he is trying to help with aa so everything has smoothed out a little. I'm still praying he'll stay on the DORIGHT program. That's what we're calling it

He went to 3 AA meetings today. He took a friend of his to one of them. He's going to another one tomorrow

Son has gone to 3 AA meeting today. I think he 's going again at 6 and 8 tonight. He is taking a friend with him. His friend can't stay away from beer even though it is killing him

This is so hard to deal with

My oldest son (28 yrs. old) is what they call a "functional alcholic". He holds a full-time job, most days working 14 - 16 hour days. He does amazing work, is dependable and is a very hard worker according to his boss. But, the minute he gets home from work he starts drinking. He drinks til he goes to bed. He drinks a lot. He will call me drunk, and talk for sometimes 2 hours. He isn't a mean or nasty drunk. Sometimes he is silly, others he is very maudlin. But he is a drunk, there is no two ways about it. It breaks my heart. He is a great kid, and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He is very protective of me, loves the girls (he's their favorite uncle). But he breaks my heart every day. I understand what you are going through Shelly. It is so hard to go through. Thank God your son has you to support and help him. A lot of parents would just wash their hands of him and go on with life. Your strength will see you and your son through this. If I could get my son to go to AA, I would attend every meeting with him. Unfortunately Sean lives out of state and just tells me that he will give up the drinking when he's ready to do so. I just have to trust in the Lord to watch over him and keep him safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son Shelly. here 4U

We thought he was drinking AGAIN but it was the meds the Dr. had put him on. They were too strong for him. The Dr is taking him off of them a little at a time

He has the flu now.
